There was no parking at the normal Slide Rock Park entrance, so we had to park up the road. Thinking it would be a nice shortcut, we headed straight down into the river canyon instead of walking along the road to the main park area—not the best idea. Bo and Ben weren’t too prepared to scamper around the boulders and rocks along the river edge and we were all done in when a ill tempered storm came rolling in. We hid out under the alcove of the cliff walls for about an hour, wondering why we had agreed to let me lead us down the shortcut. It was beautiful though :).
