My friend Soo is a PhD student in quantum electrodynamics (QED). I don’t really understand what she does, but supposedly she traps atoms in some sort of cavity where they then exhibit all sorts of crazy quantum phenomenon like entanglement and superposition. Neat stuff, but most times when I see Soo, I get the feeling she just wants to blow up the lab table and quit school. Research does that to people.
