Even after six years in Atlanta, I had never heard of ‘Carver’s’ until my officemate asked me if I wanted to grab lunch there earlier this week. It’s a ‘soul food’ place on the west side of Atlanta, (near Marietta St) that’s pretty much a hole-in-the-wall. A husband and wife, the Carver’s, first started the place as a small grocery store, but it was their lunch servings that soon took over the main business.
Meal prices are fairly cheap (< $10), but I still paid dearly for my meal of meatloaf, mac n’cheese, and mashed potatoes. Even after an hour afternoon nap, I was pretty much unproductive for the rest of the day as I sat there recuperating in my office chair. This will definitely have to a be a once-every-few-months kind of place.
